HISTORY OF MAYDAY SCHOOL ISOLO
May Day School was established in April, 1980. It began operation on the 21st April, 1980. It is a co-educational school which was to provide a well-organized and professionally equipped Nursery School to serve the Isolo area.
The school started with eight babies and ten pupils in the Nursery Section. The Primary Section began operation in 1983/1984 Academic Session with 24 pupils. The primary was given permission to open and operate by the Lagos State Government on the 8th of June, 1989.
The proprietress, Mrs. Adeyanju Badmus a renowned Educationist has served with the Lagos State Government in various capacities, in the Education field, as a teacher and an inspector in the Inspectorate Division for over 25years. Â
The Headmaster at the helm of affair is an Educationist who has served in many schools in various capacities and has been with the school establishment since its inception.
The continued loyalty and dedication to service of members of staff is the secret of our success. The first National Common Entrance was taken in 1989 with 16 pupils who got admission into reputable Secondary Schools.
Needless to mention award of scholarships to our students from different schools. Our pupils had participated in the Cow Bell National Mathematics Competition and came first and second the following year. This high standard and performance is still maintained in the school and even till date, the school has always had the best results in both Lagos State and National Common Entrance in Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area.
Apart from the academic achievement, we have recorded great success in programmes featured at the National Television Authority (NTA). These include the Great Brains Program in which we maintained the first position throughout the quarter. The Junior Debate too is not left out of our activities. Â
The school has to do its credit, till date the various voluntary organizations which include the Red Cross Society, the Brownies and Girl Guilds monitored professionally from the headquarters and not forgetting the Boys Scout and the CUBS. Some other clubs have also come on board which include the Football club, Chess and Scrabble club, Ballet club, Home Makers, Music club, Drama/Literary and Debating Society.
It is in consideration of the demand for improved exposure of the children, and the importance of a good background for them, that we are getting involved in a lot of programmes, so that the children can interact with their peers and at the same time promote peace and unity in our country.
I promise to be a good child.
To love God and my neighbor
To uphold the good name of my familyÂ
I promise to be a loyal citizen
To keep a good company of friends
To read my book and pass my examination so help me GodÂ
